We are pro-women and girls. We are pro-rights, freedoms, choices, liberties, safety, prosperity, life goals, dreams, and happiness. We honor our sisters. There is no room for violence and slavery in the modern world. We feel slavery is as far from god and spirit as we may humanly stray. We recognize the volatility women and girls are facing today, but despite what hatred the world may express towards us, to the wisdom and power of sisterhood, of peace and freedom, we stand with the world's sisters, always.

The Emotional Weight of Researching Modern War and Slavery
Engaging in research about modern war and contemporary forms of slavery is not a neutral academic exercise; it is a deeply human experience. As I immersed myself in testimonies, statistics, and historical accounts, I discovered that knowledge can carry a burden almost as heavy as the suffering it describes. What began as a pursuit of truth soon became an encounter with pain—both the pain of those whose lives are destroyed by conflict and exploitation, and my own pain as a witness to their stories.
The process left me mentally exhausted. The constant exposure to images and narratives of violence created a sense of fatigue that was not simply intellectual but spiritual. Each fact I uncovered felt like a weight pressing into my consciousness, reminding me that behind every number was a life—a family torn apart, a child silenced, or a community left in ruins. In moments, I felt overwhelmed by a helplessness that seemed to erode my focus.
There were days when the fatigue of this research lingered like a shadow, dulling my motivation and clouding my thoughts. The mental exhaustion was not only about long hours of reading and writing, but about carrying the sorrow of the stories I was absorbing. Sometimes I found myself needing to step away, to breathe, and to re-center, because the material was too heavy to digest all at once.
Yet, within the exhaustion, there was also a deep sense of responsibility. The discomfort reminded me why this work matters. To feel drained was to recognize, however faintly, the suffering endured by those who do not have the privilege of turning away. My fatigue became part of my empathy, binding me to the humanity of the people whose stories I studied.
Researching modern war and slavery has not been a purely academic journey; it has been an encounter with human vulnerability, cruelty, and resilience. The pain I endured throughout the project is, in its own way, a testimony to the power of knowledge—not as something detached, but as something that shapes us, wounds us, and calls us to bear witness with integrity. -Cowdrey
