When we nourish ourselves with plant-based foods that require no violence or harming of others, something very beautiful happens to the soul: We find true peace. And when we work with the soil, gardening our own foods, we become more grounded and connected to our natural selves. This is the way of life that Mother Nature intended.
The more local and fair-trade the products we purchase are the better. Transporting goods can be hard on the environment, and unfortunately, many industries still support unfair labor practices. When we support our local community and purchase goods from our neighbors and friends we all benefit from a happier, healthier economy.
Do we really need twenty pairs of shoes? A closet full of clothes we do not wear? Or "Live, Laugh, Love" decor in every room of our home? It is a very beautiful expression, but maybe we can opt out of commercialism and tap more into peace and tranquility. Having a lot of stuff and clutter can be a distraction for the mind. Gratitude: One of the cool parts of our 'walk of life' is that we get to enjoy so many amazing foods in abundance. Isn't it neat that we can gather herbs from our gardens or pick fruit from the trees and they are just so delicious and good for us to eat? Soul food is really about nourishing this connection. Nourishing our connection to life, to nature, and to our bodies. Food is so much heavenlier when it is soul food!
